la Incubadora de Impacto Social (IIS),  a program of the Association for Nicaraguan Educational Cooperation (ACOEN) and The Resource Foundation.   It seeks to promote the impact of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Nicaragua and to create spaces to take advantage of the efforts of local organizations and funders.

The Social Impact Incubator Nicaragua (IIS Nicaragua) brings together 18 local nonprofit organizations in Nicaragua working in the education, environment, health and economic development sectors. These nonprofit organizations address many of the country's most real-life challenges, including the second highest rate of poverty in Latin America, widespread gender-based violence, school dropout, child labor, and high rates of teenage pregnancy. Through in-person workshops, site visits, training and web seminars on topics such as Strategic Planning, Program Development and Marketing and Communications, these 18 organizations gain valuable opportunities to learn and share ideas with experts and each other.

Local organizations play a crucial role in addressing social, economic and development challenges at the community level, but training for the same nonprofit organizations is largely unavailable. Programs such as IIS Nicaragua allow these local organizations to build capacity while working alongside other nonprofits in their communities to generate sustainable and lasting change.

The objectives of the program are:

  1. To foster collaboration and trust between local organizations.

  2. Provide local NGOs with access to resources and training tools.

  3. Encourage donors to work in partnership with local NGOs to attract new grants for Nicaragua's development.

As part of the IIS program, a seminar was held at  Vega Baja Educational Center with Juan J. Alarcón, founder and CEO of Swissocial, entitled:

"Development projects from the perspective of social entrepreneurship: from design to impact evaluation". Doing Good & Doing Well"
